Fitbit Inspire vs Inspire HR: In-depth Review
Design and Display: Fitbit Inspire vs Fitbit Inspire HR
Fitbit Inspire and Inspire HR both have a similar intuitive, easy-to-use grayscale OLED touchscreen display. It lacks a color display, and you cannot adjust its brightness.
Both these wearable fitness bands have a slim design and discreet look, which makes them look sleek and stylish on your wrist.
On the side, there’s a button which will help you navigate through the menu.
The main difference between Inspire and Inspire HR is the design of the band. Inspire HR’s band is more flexible and softer, as it is made from premium-quality silicone with aluminum buckle and tang fastening. Whereas, Inspire’s band is made out of durable elastomer material with peg and loop fastening.
Both the Inspire and Inspire HR have limited number of customizable clock faces and you cannot use third party clock faces or choose to have always-on display.
When it comes to aesthetics, there’s only a slight difference between the two.
Inspire fitness band comes in two colors viz. Black and Sangria. While, you can get Inspire HR in Black, Lilac and Panda (White + Black) color. Both these models have small and large band options included in the box for user’s convenience.
For both these Inspire models, band designs are available in stainless steel, silicone, leather or double-wrap.
By default, the home screen shows today’s date, steps taken, heart rate (only in Inspire HR), etc. If you swipe up, you will see additional stats in detail, and if you press the side button you will return to the main screen.
UI (User Interface) of both bands is quite simple and responsive. But, workout metrics derived on Inspire HR are the same as that on Fitbit’s expensive, high-end trackers- which is a huge bonus!
Fitbit incorporates subtle animations into every icon and transition to make software experience more delightful and add fluidity to the UI.
Besides, both the wearables are extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear.
Inspire and Inspire HR- both have 1.45” long vertical module, whereas the wrist band is around 0.63” wide.
Inspire HR inherits all features of Inspire along with few additional features such as:
- Sleep Stages (Light, Deep, REM)
- 24/7 Heart Rate Monitoring
- Guided Breathing Sessions (based on your heart rate)
- 15+ Goal-Based Exercise Modes
- Measure Cardio Fitness Level with heart rate
- Real-time Pace and Distance Measuring with Phone’s GPS
Seeing its affordable price, both Inspire models do not come with in-built GPS to measure real-time pace and distance during runs or rides. But Inspire HR can display real-time stats of pace and distance when connected with your phone’s GPS.
The battery life of Fitbit Inspire HR is similar to the battery life of Fitbit Inspire.
Both trackers can sustain for up to 5 days on a single charge. And, they have exactly the same charger with magnetic attachment on one end and typical USB plug on the other end. Such magnetic design allows you to attach the tracker to the charging cable quickly.

Fitbit Inspire and Fitbit Inspire HR- both can monitor your all-day activities such as calories burned, steps, distance covered and active minutes. However, due to the optical heart rate monitor, Inspire HR shows more accurate results of calories burned.
Both these wearables do not have an altimeter, so you cannot track the flight of stairs climbed.
Inspire and Inspire HR can track your sleep and wake you up with a subtle vibration. Through Fitbit app, you can set up a ‘Sleep Schedule,’ get ‘Bedtime Reminder’ and also derive basic sleep insights. Due to 24/7 heart rate monitor, Inspire HR is much better in tracking your sleep than Inspire. Your sleep tracking is more accurate; you can see sleep stages and monitor your resting heart rate over time- all in Inspire HR.
Know that both these gadgets are Swim Proof and have Swim Tracking feature. So, you can wear them in the shower or pool and even track how long you were swimming.
With Inspire HR, you can even derive real-time pace and distance covered during runs, bike rides jogs or walks if you connect it to your phone’s GPS. Not to mention, you can even check the map of your route in the Fitbit’s app after your workout.
